Emergency Preparedness Training; Charlotte County Utilities, Port Charlotte

Southeastern Technical Solutions developed and delivered a six-hour, single incident emergency preparedness training seminar for CCU’s Incident Command System (ICS) staff. The seminar was completed an extended table-top format in which actual communication of response actions with staff members not directly involved in the training seminar was completed. Additionally, the seminar was conducted in an accelerated real-time format in which 15 minutes of training time equated to 2 hours of exercise time. As the training seminar progressed, the incident parameters were changed to simulate the effects of response actions based upon the decisions made by the ICS staff. STS staff facilitated the training exercise and documented, through videotape and notes, the response actions developed by the ICS staff. A summary of the training seminar and recommendations for improvement to the response actions were provided in an “After Action Report.”
